Sew N Sow

As a ministry of Faith Church, under the umbrella of Faith Church’s 3G, Sew N Sow has grown out of the ongoing need for supplying baby quilts to the Cumberland Crisis Pregnancy Center. Women gather quarterly for a taste of old fashioned fellowship around sewing machines, irons, and scraps of fabric to “sew” quilt squares that will “sow” the love of Christ into the lives of women and families experiencing a crisis pregnancy.

Sewing experience is not necessary to participate in this ministry, however. There is always a need for helpers who can iron, cut with scissors, or sort fabric scraps into different piles of color, shape, and size. The main thing is for each woman attending to come with a heart willing to assist in some way, and to have some fun while doing it.

Yet attendees are encouraged to try their hand at sewing a seam or two on a sewing machine if they want to. No fancy skills are needed to sew with this group. In fact, one of the instructors told a participant, “If you can drive a car by putting your foot on the gas pedal and steering, you are skilled enough to sew with us!” Indeed, experienced seamstresses team with first-time or novice sewers to complete a different block style each quarter. The blocks are then sewn together to form bright, scrappy quilt tops, sometimes in the same day that the blocks were completed. Often participants can see how their work will look in a finished baby quilt.

Quarterly Sew N Sow meetings are traditionally held in January, April, July, and October on the third or fourth Saturday from 9:30 AM until early afternoon. If you own a sewing machine, you are encouraged to bring it. Please call the church off for further details.

3G God’s Gift Givers

Our Guiding Scripture:

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in                       serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold                   grace of God.  1Peter 4:10

Who we Are

3 G has been a vital part of the Faith Church outreach ministry since the church’s inception. 3 G at Faith Church has always stood for “God’s Gift Givers” and is made up of all persons interested in using the needle arts to reach out and minister to our community. (Yes, both women and men can be involved in this ministry).

All that is needed is a heart to reach out to others with a crochet hook, knitting needles, sewing machine, embroidery stitches, or nimble fingers to stuff small pillows, handmade toy dogs, and teddy bears. Instruction in these needle arts is also offered during monthly or quarterly meetings.) As of this date in 2017 the ministry of 3G has touched the lives of folks in Sumner and Davidson counties. Monthly donations of hats, pillows, and preemie outfits benefit the Vanderbilt Neo-Natal unit and cancer center. Quarterly donations of hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, sweaters, and blankets are gifted to the Nashville Rescue Mission and Hendersonville’s Community Child Care Center. By far the bulk of 3G’s handmade goods find their way to the Cumberland Crisis Pregnancy Center. Every month 3 handmade quilts, knitted washcloths, burp cloths, receiving blankets, bibs, knitted and crocheted layette sets, baby hats and baby socks are delivered to the Pregnancy Center.
